You don't need another hundred ideas.

You need a few good ideas you can actually use.

That's the philosophy behind Quiet Empire.

Every Tuesday and Saturday, I try to bring you something worth considering: a strategy, a tool, an opportunity, or an observation about where business and technology are heading.

Not hype.

Not another promise that everything will change overnight.

Just useful information that can help you make better decisions, build a stronger business, and steadily move toward greater financial freedom.

You'll occasionally see a sponsored message as well. Those sponsors help support the cost of producing Quiet Empire and allow me to keep it free for you. I try to feature opportunities I believe could be useful to my readers.

And because I believe in sharing what I'm actually using, I'll tell you that Quiet Empire is published through Beehiiv. The platform has helped me build this audience while also creating advertising revenue from the newsletter.

Each issue of Quiet Empire is designed to give you an idea, strategy, observation, or opportunity that might help you make a better decision, strengthen your business, or move another step closer to financial freedom.

Enough introduction.

Let's get into something useful.

In today's issue:

  • you don't research your first AI side hustle for twenty hours. You decide it in twenty minutes.

  • Set a timer for twenty minutes. Write three plain answers. That's it.

  • Do exactly one thing this weekend. It costs zero dollars and twenty minutes.

  • The smaller the format, the sooner you have something real to point to, and something real beats something impressive every time.

The Big Idea

Pull up a chair. Let's take it apart.

You've watched the videos. You've bookmarked the courses. And you still haven't picked the thing.

So let me name what's probably freezing you. You think the pick starts with finding the right AI tool. It doesn't.

Here's the idea this whole issue is built around: you don't research your first AI side hustle for twenty hours. You decide it in twenty minutes. And you decide it from what you already know, not from what's trending.

The pick comes from your head. The tool comes later, and only formats it.

That's the whole game.

The Deep-Dive

Let's start with the general concept.

Most people sit down to pick an AI side hustle and open a browser. They search "best AI money-maker." They compare fifteen tools. Two hours later they close every tab, more confused than when they started.

Here's the truth. The tool was never the engine. It was the intern.

So we're going to do this backwards from how you've been told. We start with the one asset you already own and nobody can copy: your expertise. Then, and only then, we go find the tool that formats it.

Stop asking: What can AI make for me?

Start asking: What do I already know that AI could just format and deliver?

Set a timer for twenty minutes. Write three plain answers. That's it.

  1. The one question people already ask me because they know I have the answer. Not a hundred things you're good at. The one thing. The question a friend, a client, or a coworker brings to you without thinking, because you always know.

  1. The format that answer naturally takes. A checklist. A one-page guide. A review. A template. A short walkthrough. Don't overthink it. Notice the shape your answer already wants to be.

  1. Who would pay a little to skip figuring it out themselves. Someone starting where you were fifteen years ago. Someone who has the money but not the time. Name them plainly.

Notice what did the work there. Not a tool. Your own head. The decades of deciding what matters and what to skip.

At minute twenty, you won't have a business. You'll have a decision you can point to. A category. A direction. One page instead of a hundred videos.

Then, and this is the part everyone rushes, you pick the tool. Free ChatGPT or Claude to format the guide. Carrd or systeme.io to hold it. The boring one that delivers, not the flashy one that promises.

Pick the category that fits the expertise you already own. Then pick the tool. Not the other way around.

Let me illustrate...

Now let me paint the picture. Not an invented case study. Just a picture of how this actually goes.

A capable guy, fifties, sits down at the kitchen table on a Saturday. He sets a timer. Twenty minutes.

He writes the question people always ask him: "How do I know if this used equipment is worth buying?" He's answered it a hundred times over twenty-five years in his trade.

He writes the format: a one-page inspection checklist. The exact five things he checks, in order, before he ever hands over money.

He writes who'd pay: the newcomer who's about to overpay for junk and doesn't know it.

The timer goes off. He stops.

He doesn't have a website. He doesn't have customers. He doesn't have a tool.

He has a decision. A clear one.

The checklist came from his head. Only his head. The tool - free ChatGPT, later that night - just laid it out cleanly.

That's not the business. That's the first page of it.

Your Tactical Takeaway

Do exactly one thing this weekend. It costs zero dollars and twenty minutes.

Set a timer. Write three plain answers on one piece of paper: (1) the one question people always ask you, (2) the format your answer naturally takes, (3) who'd pay a little to skip figuring it out.

When the timer goes off, stop. Don't open a single tool.

One small decision you can point to beats a hundred videos about it.

This Week's Signal

A quick note before we close.

The thing I keep seeing this week, in the emails you send me, is the same quiet knot: "I've studied enough. I still haven't started."

Here's the signal worth your attention. The people who get moving aren't the ones who found the perfect tool. They're the ones who made a small decision they could point to. The decision is the move. Everything else is just formatting it.

That's the whole shift. From studying to deciding. Everything else follows the decision.

Topic Specific Nugget

One nugget you can use today, on picking the format.

When you write down the shape your answer takes, favor the one that ends in a single page. A checklist, a one-page guide, a short template - these format fast and deliver clean. Skip the "full course" and the "membership site" for now. Those are page fifty of the business, not page one. The smaller the format, the sooner you have something real to point to, and something real beats something impressive every time.

Most people are asking AI
the wrong question.

They ask "what can I get it to do?" — and end up with more tabs, more prompts, and rarely more income. There's a better question. Watch me walk through it.

To wrap up today…

So here's your one decision this week: name the expertise you already own, then pick the single category that fits it. Not the flashy tool. The boring one that holds the delivery.

The judgment is yours. The typing is the intern's.

You were never behind. You were just doing by hand what the tool was happy to hold. The path from overwhelmed to operational is shorter than you think.

So here's where I'll leave you.

The kitchen-table version of this story didn't start with a tool. It started with twenty minutes and three plain answers. That's you, too.

You were never behind. You were just doing by hand what the tool was happy to hold.

The path from overwhelmed to operational is shorter than you think. Package the one thing you can explain in your sleep, and let the intern format it.

Two years from now, will you look back and say you built something, or just learned a lot?

A Personal Note:

I wanted to share a little background on the guy who creates these newsletters. Yes me. I had very humble beginnings growing up and most people see me as a plastic surgeon today or expert marketer . I wanted to share with you one of the first businesses I came up with in my twenties while I was at the West Virginia University. My friend and I decided to come up with a hay baling service business. Here is a pic of our initial investment. That summer we put up 15,000 bales of hay with the two of us doing all the physical labor. It taught me the value of endurance in battling 100° heat days, physical exhaustion and perseverance in getting the product delivered on time. This was a valuable lesson for me and my life goals. Anything is possible if you choose to pursue it.

See you Tuesday.

Until then,
